How to change your Twitch username

Rename a Twitch channel with a checklist for URLs, stream keys, bots, overlays, and reuse delays.

Before you change it

  1. ✓Twitch currently permits a change once every 60 days.
  2. ✓Do not rename during a live broadcast or pending VOD upload.
  3. ✓Export or record integrations that identify the old channel URL.

Change the username

  1. 1Open Settings and scroll to Profile Settings.
  2. 2Edit the username field and look for Twitch's availability confirmation.
  3. 3Confirm your password to complete the change.

After the change

  1. ✓Old channel URLs do not redirect; update them everywhere.
  2. ✓Review stream keys, bots, loyalty tools, and overlays.
  3. ✓Abandoned names may remain unavailable for at least 180 days.
